Should silkie chicks have actual wing feathers?

This is probably a stupid question but, at 3 weeks our silkies are feathering out and everywhere I read says that silkie feathers do no have barbs and thus have the furry appearance, but our silkies seem to by fluffy everywhere except their wings where there are half a dozen or so barbed feathers at the bottom. Is this normal? So they keep these? Does this mean they're mixed with something else?

    Thanks so much!

Quote:If im understanding correctly your talking about how the wing has feathers and the body has the silkie fluff. Its normal. However the actual feathers on the wing shouldnt be hard like traditional feathers. They should be softer. Does this answer your question?

That's exactly what I meant! Thanks so much for clarifying this. Their bodies have fluffy but their wing feathers look like regular feathers on the ends, but are softer and more pliable than a regular feather. Having not bought them from a hatchery I wasn't sure if it was possible that they were actually a mix.

Thanks again for your help, much appreciated!!
