i am thinking of trying to show, what would be the best feed. righht now they get layer and free range some.

Depends on what your showing.

Hard feather breeds like game fowl do better on a diet of mostly whole grain (unground) with some pellets/crumble/mash where as a soft feather breed like silkies, cochins etc. do better on a diet mostly pellets/crumble/mash with some whole grains.

The color of the bird will make a difference on the feed also, white birds shouldn't have a feed high in yellow corn, animal fats and beta carotene because they can give a brassy affect to the feathers.
