Jshubin, what is that handsome rooster standing on? I heard of people implementing trees into where they use the tie cords for the roosters. I have a lot of trees, and when the roosters are on a cord near them, they get wrapped up. I plan on making some tie cords soon, and want to know if barrels and teepees are my only options.

Parrot water bottles fixed all that for me. I use parrots nest boxes also as the birds love the feeling of seclusion just like parrots and helps cold weather setting.

Thanks!! Well it is in reference to the Dolly Parton song! Because "she could have her choice of men" lol!! But my name on here is in reference to my last name "Adali" turkish husband ;) I DO have a hen named dolly though! She's a blonde so naturally... dolly fits the part. [IMG]

Wow I'm getting one every day! She was a rescue of sorts poor conditions impacted crop over crowding no grass just mud and poop and fowl mites eating her up. Balding on her head and neck but she's in great health now and I guess she's so happy to be here she's giving me lots of eggs! Lol! No roosters here but she has been submissive squatting every time I get close to her... I think it'll break her heart when she finds out I'm a human kinda girl! Hehehe! I'm not going to worry about her production because she is a couple years old and I've got plenty of hens going into age soon enough. She's actually the first of my girls to lay!!! I have a bufforpington and an australorp/RIR that should start their egging soon.

You can get an egg every day for two to three weeks before broody cycle kicks in, If broody cycle broken promptly then hen can come back into lay in a week or so, The alternating sequence will then result in a seasonal average of an egg every other day. A gamehen sustaining the production of one egg per day will be stressed physiologically since not bred for such performance like Leghorns or other table-egg production breeds. Pushing her too hard may require she be rescued from you.
