Okay...so I have a showgirl hen and an Ameraucana pullet in the same pen and whenever the Ameraucana lays her eggs, the Showgirl will peck the end & crack them! I thought it was just a fluke the first time it happened; however, if I don't remember to check for eggs early in the afternoon, I'll find the Ameraucana eggs cracked by early evening! (I know it's the Showgirl b/c her eggs are alwasy intact and I caught her coming out of the coop one day and found an Ameraucana egg pecked on one end. (I think she's getting back at the Ameraucana for being mean to her when she was first introduced to the flock! HA!) Any suggestions other than trying to make sure I gather the eggs early??

My friend put up curtains accross the nest boxes and she hasn't had any more egg eating or pecking [IMG]

Quote:But, they'd still go behind the nest box to lay their eggs?
