I just took in a Showgirl hen because the owner is I'll and can't take care of her. She thinks it's a spider bite. Massive swelling, puss, some blood...it's right below the base of her head on her neck. I have Vetracycin, BlueKote, antibiotics....what should my course of treatment be? Some one told me to wrap her with a wet dry bandage to help get the damaged

Yes, her whole upper neck is swollen. I've honestly never seen anything like this before. Would soaking a gauze bandage in warm Epsom salt water work? I know the wet/dry bandage is supposed to gently help remove any damaged tissue. I also went and got Neosporin, that was also recommended. Her eating is minimal, I'll probably have to start to tube feed, my worries are that her throat is constricted by the swelling. I think I will definitely tube some vitamins, electrolytes, antibiotics in the morning to get her more hydrated before I try to feed her the Kaytee parrot food. I'll probably crush half an aspirin in too, I know she is in pain. :(

Soaking a bandage and making a compress is worth a shot. If her neck is full of infection from a wound or spider bite it's not good. I too was worried about her internal workings being affected by the swelling.
Is her neck hard or more squishy? It looks fluid filled in the picture.

Try what you can and keep us posted.
