I got 24 show girl eggs from burntumber and they started hatching yesterday.

So far I have 6. Five are light yellow (some have markings) with light colored skin, one has 4 toes. One black one with black skin.

Little confused by the light skin thing.

When I pulled the first two out they were crying under the heat lamp, so I found this little felted kid's hat I got from the thrift store, and they do seem to like being inside that!

Edited to say: They all have naked necks, but all have a lot of feathering on front, is this bow tied?

Dang they're so cute. I'd hate to ever have to see one in person because i know i would take one of them home with me. I think if I get one more chicken my DH would go bald lol.

I'm a photographer, so that helps, lol!

It's a Canon 40D, with a 28-135 IS lense and a 580 Canon flash pointed at the ceiling (to bounce light so you don't get harsh shadows).

If you get most any decent SLR (where you can change out the lenses) it'll def help improve your photography--the rest is learning techniques, etc.

If you are looking to play a lot with photography, MAKE SURE the camera has RAW settings. It'll save you a lot of time and headaches. Raw files are easier to change the color on if it's wrong--for example when you are shooting inside sometimes you get the yellow tone to photos, that's from the lights, RAW lets you correct that easily.

    No problem.

Went home for lunch, and the incubator was quiet, but when I looked in--5 more, in an hour!!!!

    More pics tonight, I'm sure.

Don't worry about the light skin when they first hatch. It darkens up.
