Shredded paper for bedding?

New chicken owner here so please bear with me. Can I use paper from our shredders at work for coop bedding or the nesting boxes? Chicks are 4 1/2 weeks old. Thanks I have learned a lot just reading the forums.

at four and a half weeks I would suggest either that shredded paper or wood shavings, we used some sand type thing to make clean up easy but the chicks didn't like it much so we switched it over~

Thanks I have been using shavings but have access to lots of free shredded paper at work for free

Might be ok, keep an eye on them make sure they dont develop and issues or discomfort~
