Got home from work last night. One of my chicks was flat out. I thought she was dead. Weak and slow breathing when i picked her up. Not sure what happened she is almost 3 weeks old. One of the blondies. But not the little sick one from the beginning. This one has been growing and acting great. Gave her sugar and small amount of himalayin salt water last night. Really though she would be dead this morning. But she is still flat out. Drank a little more from syringe. Massaged her ( i know. I massaged a chicken. ) a little more energy. But still after i hold her up a while. She stands a few seconds and sits and lays over. Why is she sick and none of the others?

Welcome to BYC. Is she having any runny droppings or any with blood in them? Electrolytes and vitamin water is very good for her. Coccidiosis can start being a problem around this time. What type of set up do you have for the chicks? What temperature is their brooder? Have they been on soil yet? Coccidiosis signs are lethargy, weakness, hunched or puffed up posture, diarrhea or blood in stools, not eating, and ruffled feathers. Corid (amprollium) is the treatment, or if you cannot find Corid in the cattle medicines, then get Sulmet. Dehydration can be similar in symptoms. Here is some info on cocci:

Thank you. No runny or bloody stools. Fluff and feathers are smooth. Was fine yesterday morning. When got home from work she was flat out. Still alive now. Going to feed store to get electrolites and see what they have. About 3 days ago i moved them to larger brooder. 9 chicks total i hatched at home. Did medicated crumble for first week. Now on reg chick starter/ grower crumble. Temp in the hot spot is 92 degrees. Room is set at 70 degrees.
