Hi! I recently got two baby chicks. I received them from a friend who had boughten them from the store. They had them for one day and didn't use a heat lamp. As soon as I got them I bought a heat lamp and they have been warm ever since. They have both been eating and drinking good until one day later. Now one of them has suddenly been very lethargic. It won't get up and barely opens their eyes. Its wings are spread out and it's just laying there. The other baby chick keeps pecking at it trying to make it get up but it won't. It just keeps laying on its side. It's still breathing but I don't want it to die. What can I do to help it? Thank you in advance.

It is very likely too hot in the brooder. Lift up the heat lamp a bit higher and see if it makes a difference. Offer them some cold water.
Can you take a photo of the birds in the brooder?

Ok so the bird didn’t make it. I appreciate all the replies. I’ve attached pictures of the brooder. I have medicated chick feed and water available all the time. I also have a 100 watt red bulb. It’s about 18 inches above the ground.

Sorry for your loss.
Always make sure this little guy has enough water and he's not too hot or too cold.

just checked the temperature and it's 82 degrees Fahrenheit. I don't think it's a temperature issue. The other healthy one isn't spending too much or little time under the light. It seems to be sitting under the heater then walks around happily.
