sick baby chicken

my baby chick is very small... and she has a very hard patch on her stomach, I thought it was poop at first so I tried to wash it off but I found a hole that was lightly oozing thick red liquid. now she is always wanting to sleep and I am scared she's going to die

she falls over and I haven't seen her eat! I just got her today from my AG class! please help me!!

It's most likely where the umbilical cord was attached. You can try putting some Neosporin on it, hopefully it will heal up. Aside from that, do you have a heat lamp for her? How old is she and was she eating/drinking on her own before you brought her home? Are you feeding chick starter? Very young chicks often need to be taught where their feed/water is. Is she the only one you have?

When my chicks are sick and look like there going to die or very weak i usually give them this:

2 Cups Water
2 tbl brown sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking soda

this usually makes the chick lighten up and recover but remember it only works sometimes
