so I'm new to BYC. This is my first post. I just got three new silkies. One of the silkies has a very weepy eye and pasty butt. I clean her off everyday. She obviously has some kind of infection. Well, I was very busy for two days and had my husband and kids feed the chicks and check on them. They hadn't cleaned her eye off for two ful days:-( I went to take care of her this morning and her eye socket had scabbed over and the puss had filled her entire eye socket. It was a bulging mess. So I got it wet, put some coconut oil on it to loosen the scab and it eventually all came off and out came quite a bit of hard puss. It was a real stomach turner. I cannot seem to find anyone who knows anything about antibiotics for chickens in my area. Vets refuse to tar care of them. What should I do besides keeping the eye clean and using neosporin?
