I woke up today and my week old duckling can't move his leg and his eye is stuck shut. He doesn't seem to want to eat or drink. Hes been eating non medicated game foul feed and he's had electrolytes and brewers yeast , I'm not sure what to do. I can't make it to the vet or store right now,it's pouring and I'm stuck in mud. Any advice would be appriciated

For the eye, a mild saline solution - use that to rinse the eye - just drop a few drops on it.

Please tell us the brooder temperature, and if this is a single duckling. Does anyone else have access to him - could there have been an injury?

I would put the little one in water up to the belly, same temperature as the brooder. At one week old, that should be 85F. Just for five minutes - see how he moves around, if it is easier to move the leg when in the water. Afterward, be sure to dry him off and get him back into the warmth of the brooder.

Is the leg behind or out to the side? What bedding do you use?
