Anyone have any ideas on what is wrong with my chicken? She's a RIR and about 17 weeks old. I only have 2 chickens. I got her and my EE when they were 12 weeks old. We thought she had coccidiosis so I put her on corid for several days. Obviously that wasn't it. She is just so tiny. She weighed 17.2 ounces a week ago and now she's 16.0 oz. she nibbles and pecks here and there. And I see her drink water occasionally but she doesn't look healthy. The reason I thought she was sick in the first place was because she looks all hunched up with her head tucked in. Any ideas??

This is the only thing coming to my mind. Since she is not thriving, try giving her scrambled eggs to eat. Eggs are a complete nutrition for a chicken. Long long ago, I had some chickens that were not all 100% healthy, and I did not have as much knowledge as now. I tried this second option that did work out VERY WELL FOR ME. I cooked up crushed ramen noodles(one packet). Into the dish I added 1 pulverized ( ONE A DAY people vitamin without iron). The 3 or 4 chickens I had at that time wolfed it down like mad. After about one weak, they improved well.

I called the guy I got her from and he said to give her tylan 50 injections so I've been doing that for three days now and she's gone up in weight just a few oz. I'm giving her lots of extra tlc. Thanks for your thoughts and advice. Hopefully she keeps improving!

Hello, i was wondering if any of you had any other tips for sick chickens. I have three chickens who all have symptoms consisting of: weight loss, puffed up, not very active, and seem to be sensitive in the abdominal area. Even though i want to do everything I can for them, i just can't keep taking chickens to the vet. So if you had any suggestions, such homeopathic maybe, that would be very helpful. Thank you.

My chicken died tonight. Sorry I have no good suggestions. I still don't know what was wrong with her. The guy I bought her from said I should've started her on the tylan 50 days ago. And that it was too late. So I dunno. Sorry I'm not much help :(

[IMG] To both of you. I know it is sad. Sometimes chickens just do not thrive. There is little that can be done once we notice they are going downhill. Nachosmama, get another chicken to keep your other company. Single chickens do not do well.
