Ana my leghorn hen has suddenly became lethargic with watery poo. I brought her in to isolate from other hens. This has happened before but now it's worse. She has lost a lot of weight and on day 3 instead of wanting back out she has gone downhill. She isn't eating at all. It doesn't feel like an impacted egg and she hasn't laid any in a couple months and her eggs are always soft shelled. She has stopped walking because one leg has went lame so this has led me to soaking her every day to remove the hard white clumps on her body and feathers from her watery poo. She is laying with eyes closed until I speak to her. Does anyone know what I should do? She is my favorite bird out of my flock and I don't want to put her down. It doesn't look like parasites in her poo and there is no blood just watery clear stuff that turns white.⁰

How old is Ana? It sounds like she may be suffering from a reproductive infection or disorder. Cancer is also common. Having a lame leg could also be Mareks disease. I know it seems hard to think of putting them down, but if she is suffering, that may be the kindest thing you could do. If she is not eating, she will continue to become weaker and suffer more. Chicken slings can be good to get them upright, to keep them cleaner, and in front of food and water. Tube feeding is also a good way to get enough nutrition and water into them. But I think she may be dying.
