Hi, I'm new to chicken keeping and I have a 4 month old chick that is open mouth breathing and making a panting sound.
She's eating and drinking, running around and playing and she hasn't stopped grooming but shes also sleeping more often than normal. I read different forums and they all pointed to different things. I don't believe its an upper respiratory infection because she's not sneezing and her nose and eyes are fine but it could certainly be heat related or it could be gapeworm? How do I know if it's gapeworm? And how do I help her if it's heat related? It has been reaching 100 where I live.
Out of concern I have been keeping her inside just in case it is heat related but I'm not sure how to proceed.
