Hello everyone, we are new (5 months) to chicken raising and are finding out how much fun it is. All of our chickens (we have 15) had been healthy until our rooster last week came out of the coop and had a poop on his back. He was walking low to the ground and his cock-a-doodle only got halfway out. Until Thursday he could walk a short distance but then he would sit down and then fall over to one side with his upper leg twitching constantly. He has an appetite but as of yesterday he does not walk or attempt to crow. He just lays in whatever spot we put him. His eyes are clear and alert. Today I was cleaning his rear and noticed !/4" white worms on his tail feathers.
I am thinking he may have fell off his perch that night and sprained something, could not get back up on the perch and got pooped on by one of the chickens above him. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
