Please help. My 4.5 yr old Bronze gobbler is acting very strange. He is very tame and loves for me to pet him. However a few days ago he started acting very strange when I come near him. He fans out his tail and stumbles into a corner of his 40' x 10' pen and jams his head into the fence until I leave like he's all of asudden scared of me or something. He will eat sometimes if I'm not around but forgets to drink. His poop is normal. My turkey usually follows me around in the yard and strutts. He would eat out of my hand. Now he acts like he is going senile or has a parasite affecting his brain. When I'm not around he just sits in one place all day. I know he's old so maybe his brain is just going crazy but I want to know if it is some kind of parasite that I can treat. I hate to think about putting him down because I am so attached to him but he has no quality of life this way.

Thank you for your response. My turkey is still eating drinking and pooping fine as long as I don't go near him. If I do he forgets about his food and starts his wierd routine of fanning his tail and sticking his head in the corner. It's almost like a senile version of him trying to strutt.

Can he get blackhead disease when there are no other poultry around? He's the only turkey I've ever owned and I don't have chickens nor do my neighbors.
