Hi I have a silky I have had for a week and for the last 2 days she's has been quiet and sleepy not even leaving the hen house in the morning. I have isolated get to our laundry, filled her water with electrolytes and given her some boiled egg. Isn't walking around just standing and hanging her head sleepily. Will drink if I put it under her beak but otherwise looks so miserable. Any suggestions/help?

I hope that other more experienced members will be able to help out, but you are doing everything you can for the moment i think.

How old is she? Has she been accepted into the flock or could she have been kept from food or water? I would be tempted to treat her for possible coccidiosis with Corid (amprollium) in her water. It is a cattle medicine at feed stores. Dosage is 2 tsp of the liquid, or 1.5 tsp of the powder, per gallon of water for 5 days. Then treat her with some probiotics and vitamin s in her water for a few extra days. Then I would worm your flock with Valbazen a few days later.

She was eating and drinking while in the coop and seemed happy enough. I brought 3 silkys together and this morning went out to check on the other 2 and one was dead [IMG] Ended up bathing the one I have in my laundry and discovered creepy crawlys once I could see through the feathers. Took her down to the vet and he said she had lice. He gave her a vitamin injection and I have now coated her and the remaining silky in the dusting powder. She is still lethargic and not very responsive. I have been syringe feeding her water with electrolytes, egg and yogurt. I am trying hard but I can't see her making it!
