Knowing that sexlinks can be differentiated at hatch, and that depending on hatchery and lineage there may be mistakes or poor genes along the way, I need opinions. My older cheeks are about 7 weeks now. Of the flock, 3 are BSS. They are from the same batch and from TSC supplied by in instate hatchery. They started getting their combs at the same time. One blacker than the other two. Those two with reddish combs. In the last 2 weeks, one of the reddish combs has gotten decidedly red and that chicken has started having face-offs with my definitely male leghorn. (He?) also has more distinct barring on his legs and is the only one to have started getting white barring on his chest. I hope to have the leghorn become a decent flock boy but I doubt I can hope that TWO males will be tolerable! Am I crazy or is it possible this is a cockerel? Best shots I could get as he is not a sit still bird! Lol

These are 7 week old chickens??? That black one is a male. There's no barring, that's just the color of his leg scales. He's not a BSL, he looks like a BJG.

To be a male black sex link, which are barred, he would have started growing barred feathers from the beginning.
Where did you get these chickens?

That doesn't look like either a pullet or a black sex link to me
