i have looked almost every were dose any one know a hatchery that is hatching silkis right now
McMurray, Strombergs, Ideal, MPC...
how big are silkies? and are they only bantams? I want to get some too!
Silkies are one of the only "True" bantams, meaning they weren't bred down from larger sized birds.
so exactly how big do they get?
Thats hard to answer. Not very big, only a few pounds.
i know i have wanted one scince i got into chickens
on strombergs site gives you a poultry breeds information sheet chicken class of breeds weight egg color etc. it is good 6 pages but it said that silkies are 28-32oz at adult weight. here is the site to get that info sheet
most places are sold out I would order eggs and hatch them you will get better quality as well. Good luck
Quote:That is true ONLY in the United States. In the UK, however, there is a distinct bantam and Standard (Large Fowl) Silkie.
