My 24 week old Silkie, Bess, just laid her first egg. I was so excited. It is the cutest thing. Next day she laid another one. Don't know if they are fertile. I do have a Silkie Rooster. Think I'll wait until spring to let her sit on any. The chicks must be so small. Anyone raised baby Silkies? How small are they. Mine were 2 days old and normal size chicks. Do the eggs get bigger as they get older?

If the rooster is mature and mating with the hens, the eggs may well be fertile.

Generally, a pullet's eggs get slightly bigger (and more uniform and refined) as she gets older. They don't change a lot, though.
