That looks to be partridge. Buff shouldl be uniform yellow at that age.

    Thanks I was just wondering.

The person who gave it to me said that it was a buff. I guess I have a partridge :)

It doesn't look like a Partridge Silkie. Partridge Silkie chicks are well striped. I don't see any stripes on this one.

My partridge silkie doesn't have very definite lines in her feathering. She had about the same markings as the OP's and they just more diffuse over the years.

    Here she is...my lovely Olive

As you can see, the only evidence of stripes left are on her wing feathers

Here she is with one of the roos. His name is Raven.

And here she is once again in the company of TWO roos.,,,bad Olive...lol !!!

Your Patridge Silkie is an adult. The Silkie in Cynthia05's photo is a chick. As you can see in the photos below, Patridge Silkie chicks have very distinct stripes, even the older chicks on the bottom of my column. I don't see anything on Cynthis05's chick that looks like these stripes.

I see what you mean, but for some reason I still think it could very well be a partridge. Maybe it's because it's late and my eyes are tired so I'm seeing double the stripes...lol !!! But no matter though, I'm still calling a spade a spade and that spade is a partridge...lol !!! IMHO.
So we can agree to disagree on this one, okay?

Of course we're friends.) And I'm not saying your wrong. I've never personally owned Partridge Silkies (only Black Silkies). They just don't seem to me to match up with all the photos of Partridge Silkie chicks I've seen, but maybe there's something I'm missing here. It will be interesting to see how some of the other BYC members who spend a lot of time identifying breeds weight in on this. Maybe I'll learn something new (it sure wouldn't be the first time).) How about it donrae, Wyandottes7, BantamLover21, etc., etc. Hopefully one or all of you can weigh in on this. What kind of Silkie chick does Cynthia 058 have?)

I'm not a Silkie color expert, but it doesn't look like a normal Partridge. However, the feathers coming in do look like Partridge coloration. For now, I'm going with a poorly colored Partridge, but I could be wrong.

Where did you get the chick?

I've owned a grand total of four silkies in my life, so take this with a grain of salt, but it looks like my buffs from Ideal. They had the darker, weird looking feathers on the wings as juveniles and I was also perplexed as to the color. But as they matured the color evened out to a nice smooth buff.
