I have a chick just a few hours old. It has legs that do not tuck up or support it. A friend once said that she held the chick with its legs held correctly and that it was successful. Is this so?
How long do I try?

For one thing, a chick just a few hours old is still going to be too weak to stand. It should be able to get its hocks under its body and right itself but even then it is normal for chicks to wobble around and fall over. Just make sure that the brooder floor gives it enough traction so that that it can get its legs under and eventually stand and walk around.

Thanks very much for your advice. The chick has been accepted back by its mother who had deserted it before I tried to help. It is doing well as is the following chick to hatch today. Thanks
