Silkie cockerel?

Wow! What a lovely memory and keepsake. We've thinking about blowing one and making it a christmas tree ornament. Is that how you hollowed yours out? And was that first egg a silkie egg or a standard breed? Our flock is mixed, and I know silkie and other bantam eggs tend to be smaller, so I hadn't thought Cupid's would get any bigger, but maybe so! Her eggs right now are about twice the size of a quail egg, I would say, which seems pretty regular for bantams when I look at egg comparisons on line. Time will tell. Now... hopefully our other girls will get on board soon!
Yes, I hollowed it out. I don’t know who laid it, but it wasn’t a Silkie, as I don’t have any.

this thread makes me excited for when i get more silkies in the spring- i got two in september but they both turned out to be cockerels! so so sweet though. way sweeter than my three older mixed girls. my babies aren’t full bred silkies so they don’t have the black skin & one has a single comb, but i love them nonetheless. they carry the frizzle gene which is why i got them initially!
