Silkie Head.. Not So Silkie!

I recently got a silkie hen, I'm unsure of age. She does not have the luxurious locks that most have. Is she molting? She does have porcupine like quill feathers on her head as well. But the feathers on her head currently look like they have syrup in them. Will this go away? She's been bathed (as all newbies are)
Just wondering if she's molting or if this is permanent?
Thanks in advance!

Hi, hope you are enjoying BYC! :frow

Cute splash. :love

Those are probably just shell left behind when the new feathers came in (can't currently remember what it's called). I help take them off some birds, kinda crush it with my finger nail. It turns into dander. They just didn't get it while preening... I think.

Pin feather sheath.
They can't reach their heads with their beaks to preen, kinda feel sorry for them so I do the same as you at times.
