Hey yall...
It seems like I always have a weird question...
It is normal for a chick, 2 month old Silkie, to make its very own personal tiny MUD HOLE?
Today is the third time I have found this certain silkie chick wallowing like a little piglet in a mudhole.
This is also one of the chicks from the July 22nd incubator incident..
This chick is the smallest of the group, its feathers are not as fluffy, it actually has less feathers than the rest and its chirps sound really strange... almost like a tuny goose...
It has a "crest" so to speak..
The crest looks like the feathers on tip of a bluejay or cardinal..
Its small and pointed..
Bless its little heart..
Its just different..
Anyway, the mud hole??

BTW...
Picasso is growing like a weed. I believe its a cockerel...
I have been referring Picasso as "he & him", LoL.
He is so fluffy and soft, bright eyes, lots of feathers and still eating all on his own.
I decided against the tube method. He seems to want to be so independant.
His beak is much worse also.
I monitor his weight, hydration, food intake and social behavior very close.
He is thriving and doing great!!

'Mud hole' as opposed to dust bath? That is weird.
I know!!!
This little chick is weird in itself.. LoL.
Heres a photo of him in the mud...

LoL....
I have 3 SPECIAL Silkies now...
2 from the incubator incident.
1 who had fallen out of the nest just after hatching, I guess...
When I found it, it was cold and not in a good way...

I had to save it, of course...
Now, its 4 months old. Way smaller than Its siblings and I can tell its not quite right..
LoL
Its gorgeous though!!
I named it Korn, with a backwards r...
Picasso..
This mud puppy I think will be Van Gogh..

Oh and yes it’s definitely a boy with that comb development.🙂
In the second photo he actually looks a little annoyed that you are disturbing him in the middle of his mud bath.🤣

My Silkies will sometimes get muddy foot feathers from walking around in the mud but I’ve never had one do this so I’m not quite sure what to advise you.🙂
I have never had one even want to get their feet muddy..
I provide them a shallow wading pool when its really hot, i dont think they actually get in it, I see them drink from it.
