Silkie or not a Silkie

Myself and a friend both got some Silkie chickens from the same breeder but we have now noticed that a couple of them only have 4 toes instead of the normal 5.

I currently have 3 Silkies, 2 hens and one cockerel, my cockerel and one of the hens has 5 toes and she has hatched 2 chicks which are lovely but everyone is now saying just because they dont have the extra toe they are not proper silkies

A silkie can have more toes or less toes than they are supposed to- I've encountered both. They still are a silkie; however, they couldn't be shown as it is a disqualification from showing.
