My silkies foot feather seemed to have got snagged on something, it pulled out and now she is bleeding. My problem is is that I have no where to put her w/o infection. Anything I can do besides the Neosporin and iodine?
I would put some blood stop powder or flour on it. Most blood feathers will bleed for a bit, but pressure for a few minutes may help it clot. It should be safe for her to be on the roost overnight.
If you don't' have styptic powder, agree with flour and pressure. I you have a styptic pencil use that. Hydrogen peroxide won't stop bleeding, but masks blood. Make sure chicken bleeding has stopped before putting on roost. Tomorrow if looks bloody or others peck, get some bluekote wound dressing and spray it.
