I'm very new to silkies(I've had my babies for five days), and have a few questions for any silkie experts out there :p

Is there such thing as a crested silkie? Or are all silkies crested? If so, what does a larger crest mean?

What colour variation is my brown baby? Pictures below

Can they coexist peacefully with game bantams?

Thanks in advance for any answers, I appreciate any info on these little fuzzballs:love

Your brown chick looks like a partridge. Silkies have different size crests. I love the big full crests so that’s what most of mine are.

I would not mix them with game bantams. I tried and one morning I opened up the coop to screaming. My game hen was on top of my white silkie pulling her feathers out. They are just too aggressive for silkies.

Thanks, I thought he/she might be partridge, but wasn't sure.

I have kept mine with Rhode Island red (hens), Buff Orpingtons, Cochins, Mille Fleur d'Uccles, all sorts of chickens. And they get along surprisingly well. I've found that Silkies are pretty chill, though they do tend to like the company of other silkies around. Then again, all the chicken breeds i've kept them with are pretty chill as well. My ancient sister silkies love each other's company.
