Bear with me, as I am new to genetics. I have 3 silkie hens, 2 blue/gray, one black. They got knocked up by a Serama rooster. I'm not sure how his coloring would be described. Kind of a multicolor with a buff base? So far all the chicks that have hatched are blue/gray. I was really expecting a variety of colors. Can anyone explain the genetics at play? Is gray a dominant color?

Yes, blue (gray) and it’s undiluted form (black) are dominant colors. You also have the potential to get splash and black chicks from that cross. They’ll probably have buff leakage, but not as much buff coloring as the rooster. His color could be called blue buff columbian, though he’s probably not pure for the pattern, as seramas aren’t usually bred to have the same colors. Your silkies may have other genes, which means they could have some offspring that aren’t mostly black/blue/splash, though it doesn’t seem that way so far.
