I have several young Silkies, but I think one is a Roo. He's bigger than the others and acts more dominant. Lately he's been doing an odd thing with his head. He stretches it out to look at me, but his head tilts at an abnormal angle when he does it. This only happens when he's looking at me, not anyone else. He appears to be trying to stretch his neck. One of my neighbors thinks he has "STS", or something like that? I think it's called Silkie Tendinitis Syndrome but I can't quite remember. Anyway, is anyone familiar with this? I heard that using acv can help cure this, or regular stretching exercises, although I'm not sure how to stretch his neck and haven't found any articles on it. Any advice?

Very odd, does he make any strange noises when he extends his neck?

My guess is he is giving you a good inspection to make sure you aren't going to try anything crazy. If it's not all of the time then it's probably a reaction to you. Don't worry, he'll get used to you. This is normal roo behavior being protective of the flock!

I need more details. Is it a crow or a moan?

It's not exactly erect. More cocked to one side...

Kind of both, like a mow, or a crown. Does that make sense?

Does he bob his head as he makes this noise?
