    1) What type of bird , age and weight. Silkie Cock, 2 years old.
    2) What is the behavior, exactly. He acts normal like nothing is wrong, but we noticed he has a very swollen face, and his eyes are swollen shut.
    3) How long has the bird been exhibiting symptoms? We noticed it this evening
    4) Are other birds exhibiting the same symptoms? No
    5) Is there any bleeding, injury, broken bones or other sign of trauma.Either dry skin or scabs on his face.
    6) What happened, if anything that you know of, that may have caused the situation. Not sure, but a few weeks ago a neighborhood dog scared to other chickens to death, so he couldbve got scared and injured himself
    7) What has the bird been eating and drinking, if at all.dumor layer crumble, water, and possibly an egg, there was egg shells in the cage.
    8) How does the poop look? Normal? Bloody? Runny? etc.Normal
    9) What has been the treatment you have administered so far?Nothing, not sure what to do
10 ) What is your intent as far as treatment? For example, do you want to treat completely yourself, or do you need help in stabilizing the bird til you can get to a vet? We'd like to treat it ourselves
    11) If you have a picture of the wound or condition, please post it. It may help.[IMG] [IMG]

Maybe a reaction to gnat bites? I've read a lot about birds having nasty reactions and even death as a result of those darn gnats.

No gnats near the cage at all. We've never had gnats that bite either, just the pesky fruit fly kind.

He doesnt have access to anything that could cause an allergic reaction. Been in the same cage of over a yr with nothing new added or changed.
The poor guy still looks the same today. I have no idea what i can do to help the swelling go down.

I would start by giving him a good bath. If he does have mites, etc. you will be able to see them better as they will all head to his crest when you get the rest of him wet. Could it be a fungal infection?
