My little Buff Silkie roo (BigE Smalls) has found his way to the top of the pecking order with my large fowl hens. I have 4 RIRs, 2 BRs, and 2 BOs. His favorite girls are a couple of the RIRs. Their eggs are always fertile when I crack them.

Has anyone seen (or have) what a silkie x RIR cross would be? I'm so curious to know what they would look like if I ever decided to incubate any. DH is about at wits end with me right now though. He's built 2 coops and a tractor already this year just trying to keep up with my growing chick habit [IMG]

Please post any pics you might have or just describe, if you can. Would they be large fowl or the size of silkies? Would they be smooth feathered? This is random, but what color eggs to silkies lay (since it seems I'll never get any) [IMG]

    Thank you!

Thanks so much for the link. I pm'ed the owner to see what the size is. It's hard to tell in the pics. You would hardly know they were silkie crosses except for the Elvis hairdo [IMG] So cute [IMG]

These are my 2 Silkie/EE hens with their daddy who is an EE. Their mama was a blue Silkie. They're closer to standard size than bantam, but not as large as my straight EE hens.

Oh, and one of them lays a cream colored egg (like Silkies do) and the other lays a blue egg like EEs!

Yep, I'm going to be crossing silkies with Orps and EEs to try to get a larger broody hen. Let me know please what he owner says about the size.
