I JUST learned they exist... and they're purebred! Silkies & Ameraucanas are my "specialty" breeds. tell me more? where they're found? how the heck anyone figured out how to silk an Ameraucana without using a Silkie???!
 
Silkied Ameraucanas were actually as a result of spontaneous mutation. They popped up randomly in a line of pure Ameraucanas about 15 years back, originally posted here: https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/whats-wrong-with-their-feathers.98335/ There was a boom in popularity with them when they were discovered, and then it died down, and now they're quite hard to find unfortunately. :hmm
