silkies and pens

Hi I am just getting into the silkies and sebrights. By reading other threads on here am thinking I have the wrong idea with them. I have them all in pairs, rooster and hen. Are these going to be ok together just the 2 of them or do I have to have more hens as I have been reading on the forums???

I've heard bantams are fine in a pair - and I've seen a rooster bantam and a hen bantam living together happily. I asked this question once, and most people thought my silkies would be fine in pairs (I ended up having to get rid of all the roosters though, so I have not expeireced this yet) I used to have a cockeril and a pullet bantam together, they were very happy.


I think you are fine, unless you notice that the hen seems to be getting too much "attention" from the rooster.

It tends to be with regular sized chickens you need more hens than roosters.
