Silkies! Male or Female? :-)

Hi all!

I'm interested in these silkies, but it's hard to tell for sure what they are. It's the only photo of each that the breeder has put up....

The white she has listed as a female. The black is listed as unknown. I asked her about it and she said she thought it was a male, but now is showing some female characteristics.

What do you all think? I pick up the white girl tomorrow....she is 7 weeks.
The black one I think is 5 weeks? They almost look the same age to me?!

Much too young to tell. Silkies are best evaluated at 4-5 mos. Sometimes you cannot be certain of gender even then - have to wait for crows or eggs.

If I had to make a WILD guess, I would say the white one has a lot of comb for such a young age ( maybe cockerel) and the black has such a full crest in that photo, may be a pullet.

I can see the white one is your favorite, so hope they turn out as you expect.

Heya! Thanks so much for the guess! I like the guessing game, sadly though I cannot keep roos where I live....so panic panic. I'm going to have them feather tested when the black one arrives. I already have the white, that's why I have more photos. Black one comes this Friday....very excited! I think I will love them both the same, hard for me to have favorites. They are adorable! <3 I'll for sure keep everyone posted on the results!

Trying to figure out if a have a roo or hen 7wk silkie?? My chick acts very motherly to the smaller chicks and is also very snuggly. Any thoughts would be very appreciated. Thanks
