Silkies nad larger fowl living together

I am new to raising chickens and was told silkies at any age should not be mixed with larger breeds. Is this true?

I let my silkies out with my larger girls, they really don't bother them at all.

I have a silkie roo that freeranges with my LF ( he is an egg eater ) and he does just fine.
