I have 4 straight-run silkies that are about 4-5 weeks old and I'm wondering when I can start telling if they're male or female and what to look for. These are my first silkies.

It's still pretty early to tell at that age. [IMG]
But you're looking at the comb... males will have a more prominent comb, and the crest will spike up a little more. There's also the carriage, but I usually can't really tell until 8-10 weeks or more.

    They are tricky!

We tried to tell our apart at 8 weeks and I was told my roo was a pullet and vise versa. Turns out at 10-11weeks a huge comb popped up on what was supposed to be my pullet. Needless to say, my Rooster is named Pinky! [IMG]

You may want to wait, but it wouldn't hurt to post some pictures. Preferrably close up on mostly of the face and comb.
