    This is Jr.
Our first home bread silky roster.
He has gold eyes..... It was my understanding that silkies always have black eyes. Is this unusual?

Welcome to BYC! Glad you decided to join our flock. I used to have some Black Silkies, and all of ours had black eyes, which is what the APA standard calls for. I have heard of some Silkies having gold eyes, but I know that they are not up to standard. In addition to the Silkie link that Kelsie2290 has provided, you might want to post this on our Exhibition and Genetics section at https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/16188/exhibition-genetics-breeding-to-the-standard-of-perfection. The folks who frequent that section are real experts on what breeds can and cannot have. Please feel free to ask any other questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your Silkies.
