Silly me, bout had a heart attack...

Was checking in on my chicken in the kitchen and since they insist we keep the lights out so they can sleep (this makes eating difficult some nights) it was pretty dark.

Well I looked in and it looked like my EE had her neck stretched out, with her head layin on the floor. She never sleeps like this, so I bout went into a panic. When I called her name and she pulled her head out of her wing to look at me like "what ya waking me for?"...I realized I had been looking at her TAIL, ooops, wrong end of chicken!

Hahaha! That's a good one. I had a rooster who couldn't tell the front from rear for awhile... but that was in the day light.

NORMALLY I can tell the front of my chicken from the behind.

Nice to know I'm not the only one with a chicken if the house. I have 19 chicks staying in at night in a box. For the time being I can tell the heads from tails. I just can't tell the hens from the roos. we raised a Jersey Giant once, it was a hen. But when we got it we were told it was a RIR roo. Stupid us, hadn't really got into chicks at that time, I was wondering why if it was supposed to be red that it was jet black???and then it laid an egg. So don't feel bad. i just happen to see one just like it on the hatchery page or i still would not have known the breed. We still make fun of the lady that give it to us, she don't mind though.
