Today I when I went to check on Tofu after feeding my horses she wasn't in her pen. I finally found her less then 20 feet away from her Pen in the barn tucked tucked up in a small space near the chicken feed 100% okay and she had laid an egg in said spot. But when I looked at the spot and realized how she had chosen such a smart space to nest. Because she could see anything coming or going in the barn on either side. I guess I will have to get her a better nesting box then what she has though currently in her pen obviously it isn't up to her standards. She has an old recycling crate full of hay.

Hi there, Yup, they are picky when it comes to nesting boxes. I have 6 boxes for 10 hens (currently) and they all choose to lay in one box!! Your girl certainly is one smart chicken, [IMG]

When it comes to a nesting area, the hens know location is the key! Good for her! I wonder if she'll go broody?
