Silver Laced Barnevelder 2 wk chicks and ?

Update on the Silver Laced Barnevelder chicks at week five. My guess is that of the five that are silver laced, 2 and 6 are roosters. Brownie is smaller than the others, still has zero tail while all of the others have a two inch tuft of tail and has a normal Barnevelder brown pattern.

Some worry that 4 might also be a roo based on comb color, but her size difference to the others is making it a tough call.

Also, oops, missed 2 in the first round of pics?

Interesting article Only time will tell I guess. I've raised double laced barnevelder chicks before, but this is my first hatch of silver chicks. And the one who is not silver is following it's own growth path while the others are right in lock step on feather growth.

I've never had them before but wanted some as they are so beautiful! I've got 2 chicks and hoping for at least 1 girl

They are a smart bunch. We moved them out to their tractor coop and run a few days ago. It's always hard for chicks to figure out how to hop back up to sleep in the coop at night the first several days. I've had groups where my daughter had to climb in and pick them each up for a week! These barnevelder chicks... the first night as always I have them sleep in the coop, then the door opens in the morning and they hop down when they are ready. That night the brown one (our mystery chick) puts herself up to bed no issues. The others are crying, but with some verbal encouragement they start trying and actually all figuring it out. By the next night they were all tucked in with zero assistance.

They are about 10 weeks old now. It's definitely three hens and three roos. Brownie, the off color, slow feathering one is my only question. I'm counting him as a roo, but without another of his type to compare him to I'm not yet certain. He remains rumpless, and a total mystery. He now is a dusty black color.

Here is the best shot I have of "brownie" who is no longer brown, is smaller than the others, and I think is rumpless.
