I would say chick 2 is probaly a pullet and chick 1 is a roo

But there could be a chance that chick 2 is a late blooming roo

Ill have my fingers crossed that at least one is a pullet

I have been thinking the same thing, so lets hope Smokey is indeed a hen. If Bandit turns out to be a Roo, he'll be the only one here, so not a problem. Thanks so much for your input!

I've got two SLWs and a columbian. I'm pretty sure the columbian is a pullet just based on her behavior, but I'm not so sure about the other two. #1 we call raptor and #2 we call Bellatrix. I read that roos will have a blunt tail while pullets will have a pointed tail, which would make #1 a roo, but #2 has redder wattles and comb and more scraggly neck feathers. I'm new at chickens though, so I really have zero experience here. I took some pictures for the experts to analyze :)

Edit: I forgot to mention that they're 5 weeks in these first three pictures. I also added a picture of them at 2 weeks.

    The pair.

I have two 6.5 week old SLW chicks from a straight run bin at TSC. I am not familiar with the breed and am wondering if they're cockerels or pullets. Thanks!

HI There, my first time ever having chicks. i have a silver laced chick among 5 other breeds and this one has no wings.. They look like stubs.. while others all do. They are about 2 weeks old. Does this mean this is a male? Any help is truly appreciated :)

I will be interested to hear about "Al," because your Al looks like my "Satine" (my son named ours after a Star Wars character). I'll post pictures later.

This was Satine when we first got her (hopefully), the first week in April.
