I have silver laced wyandottes in a pen by themselves and saved there eggs for hatching. When they hatched the bitties came out looking different. Some were dark colored and some were lite. Cam wyandottes be sex linked or is this normal?

How long did you have them seperated before you tried hatching them?

Quote:If, you are asking me, I collected them the 4th week after everybody had been seperated. I didn't have any light colored, just stripes and no stripes.

I asked the same thing on a different thread. Had a batch of SLW's from Marti's hatchery. We ordered sexed pullets but two packing peanuts were added. Two of the chicks were quite a bit lighter in color than the rest. One was white in the face, wings, and bottem and the other was a light silver gray in the same areas. All the other chicks were darker in various shades of gray, from medium to dark charcoal. Both these light chicks have turned out to be roos [IMG].

Quote:They need to be seperated for 3-4 weeks before you're guaranteed to be pure so you may not have had them seperated long enough.
