Silver penciled rock?

I suddenly noticed you have your location posted: disregard some of what I wrote. Penn and Mass are where you can get some.

The only person I know that ships chicks of this variety, and that would be straight run, is Dick Horstman in Pennsylvania. I'll look for his BYC ID in a bit. Very few ship grown birds at all, it's very pricey to do but a good way for breeders to get a breeding cock or hen they desperately need or even pair or trio to start out with.

Found Dick's member page, you can message him: https://www.backyardchickens.com/u/45515/dickhorstman

I can tell you these are well behaved birds. As all breeder stock should be but from first hand experience they are very tolerant. I currently have a flock that originated from Dick's eggs. Was lucky to get eggs from a breeder in Maine about a week ago.

Wynette here on BYC https://www.backyardchickens.com/u/4158/wynette also has large fowl Silver Rock. She lives in Michigan.

Jeremy of XW Poultry Ranch in Nebraska I think only has bantam of this variety. (can't find his handle here) web site: http://www.xwpoultryranch.com/

Any of these people getting near where you live? They'd know of others that have the variety and if your looking for bantam or Large Fowl that makes a difference. The bantam are more prevalent. Not that they are everywhere but more people have those than large.

Try Internet search of Guy Roy, he has excellent bantam stock and if I remember is in or near Mass.

With a bit of effort you may find a person with stock in a doable day trip from you. I went two states away for eggs just last week.

Another thought- Find what National Poultry Meets are nearest you. The one in Springfield, MA is first or last of year depending on how you look at it. Last in terms of they start in Fall (maybe?) and run to January. Those are a great place to pick up birds. Besides hoping for a random chance of some being there for sale you could with making and finding contacts find who is going to the show near you. People bringing extra birds for sale is common and even more common is prearranged sales and using a Poultry Meet as pickup. Serious breeders travel far and wide to go to those.
