I hope this isn't a stupid question! I feel like I did when I first got chickens!

Our now 2 day old peachick is supposed to be silver pied. Is that a random pattern like splash in a chicken? The reason I ask is that one wing appears pure white & the other has a good amount of brown feathers. The colors are asymetrical on the face too. Is this normal? Does it mean anything?

Poor little peeper cries like crazy when I'm out of the room.

I did put a call duckling that hatched the same day along with a 1 week old silkie chick in the brooder. It hasn't helped much. If they have brooder mates do they usually cry so much? I'm trying to find more peachicks around the same age, but all I've been able to locate fairly locally are eggs - so I bought them. By the time they hatch, Andie will think he/she's a human baby! I've put marbles in the food & water, dipped the beak a few separate times, pecked with my finger at the feed. I use unmedicated gamebird feed & put vitamins in the water. I keep thinking there must be a reason for the crying.

Any helpful hints? I'm doing all I can think of. Andie falls asleep in my hands, which is so sweet. Too bad I can't lay her down without waking the little peeper.

I can't help you with the peeping... my little Silver Pied guy was an only child last year but he was hatched by a chicken hen and I just left him with her so he wouldn't be alone.

Here he is as a day old (excuse the dirty looking fingers, I was mowing grass):

This is when he was a bit older:

I think the darker spots in the fuzz turn into colored feathers?

I love Silver Pied, especially if they have the bi-color train!

Editing to add: Silver Pied is mostly white with some spots of color...

Peafowl are social animals. They imprint on mom and siblings... your baby has imprint on you (you are mom!) Give it time to bond with the other chicks, and it will relax..... I would stop handling it for a few days completely, and ignore it.

I can tell I'm mom!

Is it really bad for a peafowl to imprint on a human?

I'll post a pic of the baby soon. I just found it odd to have completely different color on the sides. Looks like two different chicks.

Two of my very first hand raised peachicks were horribly tame. One time I had company (the woman kinda looked like me)
A half grown peachick flew to her as she was walking away... tried to land on her shoulder ... and completely freaked out my friend.....

Well ---- I can see why that could be a problem!

Your friend must've flipped out! I had that happen to me with a Parrot once. Left me very nervous around birds till I got my chickens!

Here's Andie:
