Morning all, my very first post, been getting great info for past year though, thanks. We put some eggs into incubator in a rush 3 weeks ago as a lovely hen died and wanted some offspring from her. We knew success rate would be low as eggs not looked after and very early in year. Well we now have one chick to look after! Will she be ok on her own?
Could you get hold of some day old chicks at the moment? If so, then a handful would help i'd imagine. If you join the UK thread then someone local may be able to help you out. https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/655508/uk-member-please-say-hi All the best CT
I've raised a single hatch, until you can find same day old chicks or if you can't = warmth, mirror, feather duster, cozy stuff animal & lots of love = Keep it warm with a heating pad or heat lamp but not too hot...Position the mirror so the chick can see it's self, think it's another...Feather duster simulates Hen...Stuff animal is a cuddling buddy...Pampering will give you a buddy for life. Tap your finger in the feed/water dish to teach/simulates Hen, careful it can't drown in your water dish. Good luck & enjoy your baby
