Six Silkies to sex...

Any ideas on the best way/time to replace a couple of the boys. They are mostly for pets so we would like to get them as young as possible. We got 6 chicks hoping to end up with around 3 hens...

The younger the better to introduce new chicks. You should however quarantine as far away as possible any new chicks you add to your existing flock for at least 30days before introducing them. After quarentine start by putting a wire divider between them so they can see each other but not peck each other and after some time you can remove the divider and they will be used to each other and should hopefully only have minimal pecking or fights. If you dont have enough space or the option to use a divider and you have to just put them all together just remember to keep a very watchful eye on them and remove any as necessary.
