size of food

Tell me if I'm crazy!! lol We just hatched 5 baby Silkies and I was worried the food was to big so I have been putting their food through a pepper grinder before I give it to them. I'm feeding them chick feed it's says from 1 to 10 weeks. But it seems big for them. Tell me what you all think??

No, you're not crazy. I sometimes make the food smaller for little wee babes. Or sometimes I wet the food so its like a mash

I had that once with very young chicks, ones just a few days old. They would eat the powder and leave the chunks. I put the chunks through a blender and they ate the powder fine for a few days. Then they started eating the chunks and leaving the powder. I'm sure those birdbrains have a reason for what they do but I sure can't explain that one.

I have 3 different sizes on the grinder and I have been doing all 3 sizes. They are eating it good and I have some regural size in with him, just want to make sure they eat good, these are my first!
