Hi all!
We have a four month old olive egger in our small flock of five who we found yesterday sleeping standing up with her head tucked under her wing and very lethargic… I spectated her from our flock in a separate run with electrolyte water and feed and ran to the co-op for dewormer and antibiotics in case needed. Within three hours she had perked up and was acting normal again… My husband suggested maybe she was napping however this did NOT seem like napping… she really appeared to be on deaths doorstep! She is acting normal this morning as well. I decided to treat all the hens and our dogs with dewormer to make sure we have a happy and healthy yard since the hens dropping have been funny… some are solid, some have what I feel is an abnormal amount of intestinal shedding and some are a runny different shade of yellow than their normal cecal droppings.
I’m going to attach a photo of the yellow droppings as well as how she was sleeping yesterday… when I would rouse her, she would pull her head out but not open her third eyelid… anyone have idea if this looks normal?
also, should I start the hen that was lethargic yesterday on the antibiotics just in case OR wait and see if the wormer helps? (I do also have corid if treating them all for Coccidiosis would be a good idea?)
thanks!
